Amazon Animal Rescue Center

This center was founded in 2006 with the goal of protecting the wildlife of the Amazon region, through the rescue and rehabilitation of local flora and fauna. The animals at the center have all been abused, neglected or abandoned. Some of the animals were orphaned when their parents were killed by hunters, others were rescued from animal dealers who were trying to traffic the animals out of the country and others have been removed from families who had kept these animals in captivity.

This project offers a unique opportunity for volunteers to work for and protect a large number of wild animals while living in a beautiful part of the Amazon rainforest.

Moreover, they run effective, science-based rehabilitation programs to help the animals return to their natural habitat.

Pacific Whale Foundation

The Whale Foundation, located in Puerto Lopez, has dedicated time and effort into recollecting data about whales. Their scientific research has allowed them to contribute to the Whale Commission in South America. This happens every year during the Humpback Whale season at the Ecuadorian pacific coast.

The Foundation has already identified and catalogued over 2200 different whales by photographing their tails. They have also contributed to different scientific studies and the determination of migration routes, feeding areas and more. Additionally to whales, marine birds and dolphins are also monitored.
